About the SVKM IP Cell
Aim
The SVKM Intellectual Property Cell is dedicated to fostering innovation, protecting intellectual assets, and facilitating the commercialization of technologies developed within SVKM/ NMIMS institutions.
Mission
Our mission is to support researchers, faculty, and students in navigating the IP landscape, ensuring their creations receive the recognition and protection they deserve.

A. Workshop on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)
Date: 16th February, 2024
Time: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
The IPR Cell at SVKM plays a key role in securing, protecting, and commercializing intellectual property created by faculty members. To raise awareness and guide researchers, the Cell organized a workshop at NMIMS with participants joining online from Dhule and Shirpur campuses. The session covered:

The workshop emphasized educating faculty on safeguarding patents, copyrights, trademarks, and designs, and leveraging them for societal benefit

B. IPR Awareness Workshop

The Intellectual Property Cell organized an IPR Awareness Workshop on 15th July, 2024, with the following key proceedings:
An insightful presentation covering key aspects of intellectual property rights, including the importance of IP protection, patent filing procedures, commercialization strategies, and the role of educational institutions in fostering innovation. The session was highly engaging, and Dr. Haldankar addressed various queries from the attendees throughout the presentation. The workshop successfully raised awareness about intellectual property rights and fostered a better understanding of how faculty and researchers can protect and utilize their innovations.

C. Workshop, "Undertaking Research and Development Activities for Creating and Utilizing Intellectual Property – Experiences and Practices at IIT Bombay,"

This workshop provided insights and best practices for IP generation, commercialization, and sustaining meaningful industry-academia collaborations based on IIT Bombay's R&D experiences. Researchers should work on projects that can be turned into valuable intellectual property (IP) by thinking about how their research might be useful in the real world and understanding what people
The workshop highlighted the strategies that has helped researchers at IIT Bombay turn their ideas into products or services that benefit society and the economy. These insights on commercialization inspired SVKM and NMIMS researchers to adopt best practices and explore innovative pathways for bringing their research to market

D. SVKM’s NMIMS Celebrates World Intellectual Property Day 2025: Honouring Faculty Innovation and IP Excellence.
Mumbai, April 26, 2025 — SVKM’s NMIMS commemorated World Intellectual Property Day 2025 with a vibrant celebration that highlighted the transformative power of innovation, creativity, and intellectual property in academia. The event, held at the Mini Auditorium, NMIMS Mumbai Campus, brought together distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, and research scholars. To strengthen the culture of innovation and raise awareness about the importance of intellectual property, the Cell organized a program that celebrated achievements, shared best practices, and provided insights into sustaining innovation through licensing and commercialization.

Overview
